On Friday 8th November South East Technological University (SETU) experienced a cyber security incident.
SETU has engages external cyber security experts and is working with relevant authorities. At the point of reporting, unusual activity had been detected that had affected the network. The area of the network was isolated and all internal network traffic was stopped to mitigate further risks. At the time of writing, SETU's analysis had found no evidence of ransomware activation or data exfiltration. The internet was kept offline at the Waterford Campuses and staff were advised to make alternative arrangements.
Issues were first reported on Monday 4th November when the university reported it was actively dealing with a cyber incident that had targeted their IT systems.
